Winter constructed the new ground-up, 330,000 square-foot high school. The project team overcame multiple adverse conditions, including unforeseen subsurface conditions, unacceptable building pad provided by the Phase 1 construction contractor, and an extremely limited budget. The original contract construction schedule was 18 months, but Winter completed the school in an accelerated 16 month schedule. The existing site conditions were not as shown on the contract documents, and significant rock was discovered during foundation excavation. Winter partnered with the subcontractors and re-sequenced the schedule to ensure on time delivery of the school. In addition, due to an extremely tight budget, the architect and Winter worked collaboratively to adapt the design and project finishes to offset the cost of unforeseen conditions.
