(December 09, 2016) ATLANTA-The AC Hotel Buckhead, built by Winter Construction, has earned a LEED Silver rating from the U.S. Green Building Council.

“As organizations have begun to think more holistically about the costs of their construction
projects, achieving recognition for sustainability has become an increasing priority,” said Winter’s
President and CEO Brent Reid. “From the beginning, Winter put our green building expertise to
use in constructing one of the most efficient, sustainable, and healthy hotels in Atlanta.”
LEED status (the acronym for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) requires not only
energy-efficient design, but low-impact construction practices that reduce waste and depend on
local sources for building materials. In fact, Winter Construction was able to divert 80 percent of the
construction waste from the landfill.

The energy use in the hotel will be 23 percent lower than a typical hotel of the same size in the
same location. Efficiency features that Winter Construction installed in the new six-story, 166 guest
room AC Hotel Buckhead at Phipps Plaza include:
• A reflective roof
• LED lighting
• High-efficiency water heating equipment
• High-efficiency HVAC equipment
• Windows that automatically shade
