The library includes open space for shelving to accommodate the county’s collection of books for public rental. There is a computer lab, children’s reading room, and audio/visual center. Each area is sectioned off so multiple activities can occur at any given time without disturbing other functions.
In addition to renovating the existing 6,500 square-foot one-story building, there will be a 6,800 square-foot addition constructed as well. The structure is wood truss spanning across load-bearing metal stud framing. The exterior is brick masonry with clad windows and both metal and shingle roofing. Finishes include painted and stained wood trim and millwork. There is a tray ceiling connecting the existing lobby to the new addition. Each of the reading/learning sections have storefront glazing to allow viewing into the space. There is patterned porcelain tile in the open space throughout.
An employee parking area has been added and the covered canopy has been extended away from the building to create more covered open space at the exterior. There is also a community room the public will have access to complete with projection screen for presentations.
