The Noise Insulation Program involves the replacement of doors and windows to minimize the noise pollution that results from close proximity to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Winter’s project team worked simultaneously in twenty units between two apartment complexes in addition to a series of single-family homes. So far, we have completed 618 of 654 apartment units, two smaller duplexes, and nine single-family homes. This required 12 separate building permits from four different jurisdictions: City of Atlanta, Fulton County, City of College Park, and Clayton County.

The greatest challenge of this project is that our work is being performed in fully occupied units on a very tight 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM schedule, strictly Monday through Friday. We must work around school schedules, Federal and State holidays, individual work schedules, and many other considerations. Every minute of every day is occupied by a specifically engineered sequence of trade work from asbestos abatement to windows and door replacement, mechanical installation, electrical wiring and installation, gypsum finishing, and painting. All of these trades have to work collaboratively and harmoniously within their respective time slots to achieve the production necessary to bring the project to completion on time. We leave each window and door of each unit and home fully watertight at the end of each day. We plan to finish the largest apartment complex two months ahead of schedule.
