The project included eight individual retail buildings, totaling 370,000 square feet, house approximately 78 new tenants. The unique layout incorporates architectural elements reflective of the region’s historic charm and features stone cladding, wood accents, paved pedestrian walkways, water fountains, landscaped gardens, and a variety of seating areas. Dillard’s and Belk, the former mall’s anchor stores, remained opened during construction.
Many of the materials that were removed were recycled, including steel, aluminum, concrete, copper, and cast iron. The International Council of Shopping Centers recognized Asheville Outlets in its 2017 Design & Development Awards.
